Being Friendly
We had a day to celebrate kindness, caring, friendship, and being friendly. Ms. O. Ms. Snow, and Ms. P. decided they were triplets that day (Ms. P has an F for Friendly and for a nickname, Fife).

Brown
Like a chocolate cake
Sunshine pouring through
The window like a bridge to
The clouds
It was as old as
A grandmother’s touch
Rusty as a
Bike in the rain
Felt like a second home
To live in
Tall as 4 giraffes standing
On top of each other
When the sun shines on the
Flowers that’s when our brains
Brightened with our learning
Event at Zanetti Montessori Open House

StoryTeller John Porcino
Acclaimed Storyteller Musician John Porcino will present a special Family Event at Zanetti’s OPEN HOUSE, October 6th at 5:45-6:00 in the GYM. BE PROMPT. GET A GREAT SEAT!
John’s programs joyfully pay tribute to the little heroic moments of life. Some of the characters you might meet along the way include a boy who’s got peanut butter stuck to the roof of his mouth, a extraordinarily shy little mouse, a child who dreams of being “the best baseball player ever”, a dad who gets stuck to the wall while trying to hang wallpaper, a new step mom who desperately wants her step sons to love her, a boy who’s terrified of the nightmare hiding in his closet, an 18month old baby trying to make sense of what happened to Humpty Dumpty…. .Stories and songs that celebrate the magic of reading a good book, tickle life’s funny bone, touch the heart, and give you a little boost on your own hero’s journey.
John is director of Farm and Wilderness “Family Camp,” a founding member of Pioneer Valley Cohousing, and most importantly, dad to two wonderful if not challenging teens.
John Porcino will be at Liberty Library on Saturdays this fall! Check out http://www.springfieldlibrary.org/CRpages/current.html FAIR (Family Adventures In Reading) program Oct. 17-Nov. 21 (Saturdays). This is the program that is a book discussion group for families with kids 7-11 or 12 years old.

Hi Everyone!
The last book I reviewed was City I Love. It was such a great experience because when my review was published, Lee Bennett Hopkins wrote to me and thanked me. I saved his letter, you better believe it.
I just received two more books to review for the School Library Journal — Anh’s Anger which looks really great and Let There Be Peace on Earth. I can’t believe no one had made this into a picture book before. It’s perfect. I am looking forward to writing about both of these books and intrigued (really curious) about them. Miraculously they are both very Montessorian and will fit into our collection. These books are supposed to be published in September — that’s next week!
LOOK WHO’S READING
I love you guys. I was so glad to see your names on the MASSLIVE page and you all listed READING as your favorite activity. You know who you are, Zanetti Graduates!

What I Read and Loved This Summer
Peter Sis’s book, The Wall, is about his experience growing up in Prague without many freedoms and his desire to express himself without fear. It was very interesting.

I found a book about Western Massachusetts (that’s us) that I hope someone will want to donate. It is VERY EXPENSIVE!
Last night I went to the city library with Ms. Snow. There were many teachers there — Ms. M. Tate, and Mrs. Ruth. We were there to hear a poet, Ms. Rivera!!! She read from a book that she is in about Springfield. This book was published and created through a program at the Central Library. We all enjoyed hearing the wonderful writers read their pieces about the city we adore.
